Whitby Goth Weekend 2015/Weigh In/Measurements

This post is a bit late but better late than never right?!

Whitby was awesome!

I ate so much and had the best time! I said I wasn’t going to worry about calories or nutrition too much whilst I was there so I really enjoyed my food. I had cake…

the biggest fish and chips in the world…

 cheeseburger,chips & garlic bread, ice-cream (oh the ice-cream)…IMG_0414

lots of alcohol…

crisps and so much more!

Thankfully, going to Whitby involves a heck of a lot of walking so I actually managed to maintain my weight this past week despite eating all the food I could get my grubby hands on. Sometimes it’s not about watching what you eat;sometimes you just have to let go and enjoy yourself and I certainly did!

It was truly wonderful and everyone was so accepting of the culture, even those who weren’t dressed up (though there weren’t many!).

Here are just a few pictures from my time there. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend away, especially for Goth Weekend!

From left to right:-Me, my older sis,Mum, Auntie and Bestie
All dressed up and ready to go!
With the moomaa
Met Edwards Scissor Hands!
On the sherbets with big sis!
Feeling naked as I don’t have a hat!

People were dancing without a care in the world and drinking and chatting together. There were people from all sorts of backgrounds and everyone was just happy. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, no negativity or horrible comments. We were all there for a good time and there’s a lot to be said for that.

Being at an event like that made me realise that the world is a lot bigger than my little town and not everyone is close-minded and callous towards you because of the way you look.

I love the way everyone came together and made each other feel relaxed in their company.

Anyway, I maintained this week thanks to all the walking balancing my crap eating out, so that’s good.

I also noted my measurements on 27th October 2015 as:

  • Arm (bingo wings):- 15 inches
  • Waist:- 42 inches
  • Stomach:- 36 inches
  • Bust (Boobeeees):- 41 inches

They have gone from 22nd January 2015 measurements of:

  • Arm:- 16 inches
  • Waist:- 49 inches
  • Stomach: 42 inches
  • Bust:- 45 inches

I’m not sure how good that is in the space of nearly 9 months but it’s good progress.

What do you guys do to keep yourselves motivated when the weight loss and body transformation slows?

Please note: Gulls Cry Cottage is where we stayed in Whitby and I would recommend it hands down. It is in the centre of Whitby so is perfect for everyone!

Squashing my Inner Demons

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to touch base with you because I experienced something new last night.I went to the gym as normal and had nearly finished my cardio on the bike when a staff member came up to me. She said, ‘Just to let you know they’re starting an abs class by the mats in a few minutes if you would like to join in’. It was a bit of a coincidence because I was going to work out my stomach anyway.

So whilst on the last few minutes on the bike, I was trying to crane my neck round to see if there were any people of a larger size. When I finished I tentatively walked to the mats and to my horror there were two girls of quite a slim build; one of them looked like a bloody female Adonis! I very nearly walked off in the opposite direction but then checked myself and thought, ‘ I deserve to be here too!’. So I walked round where the personal trainer had already started with them and asked if I could join in. I had nothing to worry about because no one looked at me or laughed at me. Granted my poise was nowhere near the 2 girls next to me but I tried really quite hard!

We did all sorts of exercises that I have never done before and my body is aching today so I’m not looking forward to the 2 day ache! I stuck it out for 20 minutes until I had to leave as I was getting picked up. The trainer said they do them twice a day so I will definitely be giving it another go!

I just want to say don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something, especially YOU! If no one else is staring at you or pointing an accusatory finger, why should you do that to yourself and put yourself down?

I had thoughts of, ‘oh my god they’re so skinny I’ll never be able to keep up with them’  and ‘I bet they do really hard exercises that I have no hope of doing’. Proof dictates that just because someone is slim, they’re not always fit. I am probably fitter than some of the slim people I see walking around so there is no reason I should stereotype them either.

It’s not fair to tell yourself that you can’t do something. You are the one person you should be able to count on for support; without that, you have nothing.

So next time you have doubts about your ability, check yourself and force those inner demons back down. You are so much more capable than you realise but only you can knock those barriers down and fight for your body.

Happy Friday guys and remember:

Breakfast Bowl Recipe

Last night while on my way home, I was racking my brains for breakfast ideas to keep me full until lunch (you’d think I would have this sussed by now). I thought I would do scrambled eggs with peppers and stuff but when I got home we only had one egg left as one other had cracked and I didn’t want to risk it.

  • 2 slices bacon chopped with fat off
  • 1 courgette diced
  • 3 big white mushrooms roughly chopped
  • 1 medium tomato roughly chopped
  • 1 egg
  • half a red pepper diced
  • salt and pepper
  • paprika to taste
  • garlic to taste
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Frylight sunflower oil

On a medium heat with Frylight, add the mushrooms, tomato and pepper; fry until they soften slightly.Add the bacon and courgette (courgette doesn’t take long to cook) and fry until the bacon is cooked through. Add all seasoning and then add the egg (you can mix it before you put it in but I just cracked the egg into the pan). Stir to make sure the egg coats the veg and fry until cooked, still stirring throughout.

That’s it! Sometimes, it doesn’t take a complex recipe to make something tasty and let me tell you this was super nommy and filling for my breakfast. It may not look pretty but was lovely. The only thing I would change is to use 2 eggs so you get more of the breakfasty taste but it really was nice! Next time you’re racking your brains for what to make, check your fridge and as long as you have eggs and a few random bits, you can always make your own version of a breakfast bowl!
